During a career spanning over 20 years in information services and management, Dr. Peter Spitzer has held leadership positions in the vendor, service provider, user, and consulting environments, with responsibilities for strategic and tactical business planning, large-scale systems development, and systems integration.
.As Chief Technical Officer for Aspeon, a global leader in foodservice automation, Dr. Spitzer was responsible for systems delivery across all U.S. service divisions, including global support of a network of 4900 restaurants. Previously, as VP of Strategic Systems for Dendrite International, the global leader in pharmaceutical sales force automation and customer relationship management, he founded an analytics division, which became a leader in applying advanced mathematics and data management techniques to pharmaceutical sales and marketing management. He also served as Chief Information Officer at Texas Children's Hospital and as an Assistant Vice President at American Medical International, where he developed numerous medical records, administrative and enterprise systems (many of which, almost twenty years later, are still in use).
Dr. Spitzer has served as the Chairman of the Medical Informatics Forum for the American College of Physician Executives. He is a Fellow of the Health Information Management Systems Society and a recipient of the 1995 HIMSS Clinical Systems Award.
Dr. Spitzer received his M.D. degree, with honors (cum laude), from Harvard Medical School. He holds an M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from M.I.T., an M.B.A. from the U.C.L.A. Executive M.B.A. program, and a B.S. degree in Bio-Electrical Engineering from M.I.T. He is a member of the editorial advisory board for Health Management Technology. He has published a variety of articles on healthcare systems, quality, and systems standardization, and is a frequent speaker at professional and vendor conferences and meetings.
