Tom's industry experience includes: financial services/investment management, consumer package goods, retail, manufacturing, distribution, software development, and international. He has managed IT departments that have resulted in increased gross margins and managed a $20 million P&L.
Tom has a powerful understanding of how technology can be used for high value, high leverage opportunities. From his consulting background he learned to deliver projects on time/at budget, that IT serves business goals, and that there are always financial tradeoffs. From his industry background he learned to direct vendors and internal staff, and to manage long-term professional relationships so that both line and technical staff succeed together
Tom's professional experience includes: VP & General Manager, US Interactive, where he managed the development of complex Internet solutions. VP & CIO, Provident Investment Counsel, where he was recruited provide strategic technology direction at a $24 billion investment firm. Director of Applications Development, Viking Office Products (now Office Depot), where he supported 3000 users and 6 million customers in 11 countries. Earlier, he was a founding manager in KPMG Peat Marwick's National Retail Consulting Practice and opened the Western Region consulting office for $100 million software developer Information Resources.
Tom earned a BBA in Business Management with a Computer Science concentration from the College of William and Mary in Virginia. He also earned an MBA - Finance from Fairleigh Dickinson University in New Jersey.
